As semi-permanent eyelash extensions become more popular, there’s an increase of unsafe methods being used to perform the service as well as misinformation about the health of the natural lashes when wearing correctly applied extensions.

Eyelash extensions should never damage your natural lashes! If applied correctly by a licensed and knowledgeable technician, extensions can be worn for several years without any adverse effects on the natural lashes. In compliance with Texas law, all Lash Lounge technicians are licensed and complete a thorough training program to ensure that the health of the natural lashes is never compromised.

We only use medical grade bonding adhesive not available in stores and offer a sensitive glue option for those with easily irritable eyes. Lash Lounge trained technicians are educated on the proper sanitation methods, as well as the correct application and removal of eyelash extensions. However there are many individuals (who may or may not be licensed) that are not using the proper methods and products.

Like any other beauty service such as hair styling, it is best to only trust your lashes in the hands of experts. Read the tips below for information on how to keep your natural lashes healthy if you’re currently wearing semi-permanent eyelash extensions or what signs to look for when considering the service for the first time.

If You’re Currently Wearing Lash Extensions…

• NEVER attempt to remove eyelash extensions on your own. In between refills, we know it is tempting to remove the near shedding extensions. Our application method allows for the extensions to fall off painlessly with the natural lash during your normal shedding cycle. We offer several products including mascaras and coating sealers to extend the lash extension’s durability between refills.
• Brush through lashes gently with a clean mascara wand to remove any shedding lashes. NEVER pull or tug on lashes to remove an extension. This can cause damage to the natural lash. Our technicians are specially trained in the removal method to prevent damage.
• Remove eye makeup daily to prevent irritation and possible infection. Use cool water to rinse away dirt. Always wait 24 hours before directly applying water to lashes after a refill in order to give the adhesive time to set.
• Most importantly, tell your service technician if you’re experiencing any discomfort during the service or shortly after the service is completed. Contact your nearest Lash Lounge for more information if unusual irritation occurs.

If You’re Thinking About Trying Eyelash Extensions…

• Do your homework! Ask around for referrals. Finding a reputable lash technician is key to preventing possible damage. You wouldn’t let your nail technician give you a haircut. The same goes for your lashes!
• Don’t be afraid to ask the service provider for specific information about their products and utensils. A license should be visible in the service area as well. If it is not, request to see it or run!
• The typical price for a full set of eyelash extensions ranges between $200 – $400. Paying a significant lower amount may suggest that the individual is not licensed or is not using the proper utensils and products. The old saying “you get what you pay for” is ever true in the eyelash extensions industry.
• A first time full set of semi-permanent eyelash extensions should take between 90 to 120 minutes to apply. If it takes a shorter amount of time, it is most likely not being done correctly.
• Lashes should never be stuck together or clumpy after the service. If this is the case, you should quickly have them removed by a properly trained technician.

The Moms’ Night Out event at the Colleyville Lash Lounge salon on Wednesday, May 9th brought mothers, daughters and, in one instance, three generations of a family together for a night of fabulous food, drinks, free or discounted service, music, swag bags, prizes and much more!

The soiree kicked off at 7:00 pm with a line of women waiting at the door to be one of the first to claim a coveted Swag Bag filled with coupons and goodies from local businesses. Drinks, appetizers and bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes Southlake kept guests satisfied as they visited featured vendors.

Clinical Skin Care Center and Dr. Wilkins provided deeply discounted Botox and Skin Refirme Tightening treatments, Brian Trice of Vanity Airbrush Tanning gave guests a little shimmer with free Sparkle Shots, Posh Hair Studio pampered the ladies with complimentary hair styling and consultations, The Lash Lounge Colleyville stylists provided free eyebrow tinting and mineral makeup color match consultations, and Erica De Jesus provided discounted eyebrow threading.

Guests also entered into a drawing for amazing door prizes and shopped the trendy boutique of apparel, handbags and accessories. The original 8:30 pm end time came and went unnoticed because of the good time that was being had by all. The only request as guests began to leave the party is that another event be held soon!

1. Wash your face with cool or cold water. This will make the blood vessels constrict, reducing puffiness. Also try a cold towel compress to quickly reduce puffiness. Drench a wash cloth in cold water, wring out completely and press gently on eyes. Repeat if necessary.

2. Cut back on the salt. Sodium Chloride (the fancy name for table salt) makes the body retain water causing swelling and puffiness.

3. Increase your fruit and veggie intake. They are loaded with vitamins needed to keep your body looking great inside-out. A great multivitamin will do the trick as well.

4. Don’t rub your eyes. This will only cause the dark circles to become darker.

5. Use cosmetics with added benefits like minerals and vitamins. Try a mineral based concealer to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eye. The minerals will also work to make skin healthier.

6. Get more sleep! You’ve heard this a million times and rightfully so. Sleep is the number one most important factor to eliminating dark shadows under the eye. If you can’t get a solid 8 hours every night. Find ways to sneak in a couple of 15-20 minute breaks throughout the day to close your eyes and rest.

The GNO event co-hosted by The Lash Lounge and Dry Bar salons at The Shops at Legacy in Plano, TX on March 28th did not disappoint the over 200 guest who attended! A line of more than 50 ladies began forming an hour before the event as anticipation grew. Attention from the crowd drew in spectators and caused ladies to park their cars and take a spot in line to see what all the buzz was about. Once the doors opened at 7:30 guests were greeted with custom Hennessey cocktails, desserts from Season’s 52 and cupcakes from Sugar Rays Bake Shop (thanks Rachel!).

The delicious treats were the side show to the 100 coveted swag bags and door prizes from amazing vendors including Marriott Plano, Stiletto Stampede, Capital Grille, Champion Fitness, Socially Write, Mia Fiori, The Lash Lounge Plano, The Dry Bar, Benihana’s, Ra Sushi and much more! While guests mingled and sipped cocktails, The Lash Lounge technicians performed free eyebrow tinting and handed out 50% off a full set of eyelash extensions coupons. A Dry Bar stylist turned guest into blow-out believers during an amazing demonstration and handed out free blow out coupons.

The GNO event co-hosted by The Lash Lounge and Dry Bar Dallas salons was THE place to be Wednesday night. The event, which was held at The Dry Bar Dallas salon, overflowed with excited guests anxious to receive a goody bag, wine or champagne, free eyebrow tinting, appetizers, eyebrow threading and of course, girl talk and mingling!

The 75 goody bags for the first arrivals were given out in a matter of minutes when the event started as ladies anxiously gathered around the entrance of the salon to be one of the lucky few to receive a free blow out giftcard from The Dry Bar and an exclusive discount card from The Lash Lounge Dallas salon plus other great prizes from partnering businesses. Guests also had the chance to win a grand prize of a free set of eyelash extensions, a lash and brow tint or a lash strip or tabs application from The Lash Lounge Dallas.

The cupcakes, provided by Sugar Rays Bake Shop, were literally melt-in-your-mouth good. Every miniature cupcake was savored with nods of approval and questions of how to contact the fabulous creator of the miniature cupcakes (www.sugarraysbakeshop.com). The wine and champagne flowed all night and many guests left the event with freshly shaped eyebrows provided by Suki from Arch by Suki.

The first time collaboration between the two salons drew in a crowd of more than 200 guests between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. The Lash Lounge and Dry Bar Plano salons are partnering to host a similar event on March 28^th in Plano.
