Franchise Spot Light – Krista and Lynh

Location: The Shops at Highland Village, Flower Mound, TX

Owners: Krista Mammoser and Lynh Pham

Opening Date: July, 2011

Co-owners Krista and Lynh have different professional backgrounds, and a great friendship that allows them to successfully run a Lash Lounge salon together. Find out more about both franchisees in this month’s Franchise Spot Light.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?

Lynh: I knew I wanted to go into the medical field in some aspect.  Ultimately I became a dentist.

Krista: I wanted to be an anchorwoman

What are some of the previous jobs or businesses that you’ve had?
Lynh:
I was always a professional student before dentistry.  I currently run several dental clinics in TX, but don’t practice as much.

Krista: I started my career in broadcast news at the ABC and then CBS affiliates in Memphis, TN.   I eventually moved back home to Chicago where I produced and sold advertising campaigns for a radio group.

What made you decide that your previous jobs or business ventures were not “right” for you?

Lynh: Dentistry is challenging.  We work with a lot of patients who either hate going to the dentist or are just terrified.  Running the clinics is what I prefer – I do a lot of the behind the scenes work.

Krista: I took a ten year hiatus from the workforce to have my three beautiful kids.

What attracted you to the Lash Lounge when you were searching for a business opportunity?

Lynh: I have started other businesses, but I was a Lash Lounge client and they were always so busy.  It seemed like the perfect time to become a part of it.

Krista: [Lynn], my best friend, and I were looking into different business ventures – we were both huge fans and long-time clients of The Lash Lounge.   When we heard about franchising opportunities, it seemed like the perfect fit.

What do you think makes this particular business unique?

Lynh: It’s new and exciting, but also so important to go to the right place.   I originally had lash extensions done in a small hair/nail salon.  The lashes were not natural looking at all and fell out very quickly. I know firsthand now how important it is to go to a qualified tech who uses the best products.

Krista: The lash extensions are still a relatively new service and it’s exciting to be part of an industry that is growing so quickly.

What is your favorite part of being a Lash Lounge owner?

Lynh: Constantly having long, thick, beautiful lashes and seeing the look on a client’s face when they get their first full set. I am in on occasion, but most of the work I do is behind the scenes.

Krista: There are so many things!  I love all of the aspects of managing a business, but outside of the services we offer, we also have a trendy boutique of which I get to buy for.  So on top of everything else, I get to constantly shop!

What is it like managing a creative staff of lash stylists?

Krista: Finding the right people was more challenging than I expected, but I am so impressed with my staff.  They are such hard workers and have a passion for this industry.  It shows in their work and the growth of their clientele.

What challenges have you overcome since opening?

Krista: Starting a business is always going to require overcoming challenges.   There are so many important factors that contribute to its success.  Finding a great location, construction, hiring the right employees, and then just the overall managing the business – it can all become a bit overwhelming.  We are fortunate as a franchise, however.  This company is a proven success and there is amazing support every step of the way.

Where do you see the future of the Lash Lounge heading?

Lynh: The Lash Lounge is known for its quality of products and technicians.  It is a great model and I see many more franchises opening in the upcoming years.

Krista: I see the Lash Lounge constantly evolving with this industry.  There is competition popping up everywhere, but I know we will remain the most qualified, educated and reputable place to go for lash extensions.

What would you tell another person interested in buying a Lash Lounge franchise?

Lynh: It is a great company that will continue to do well.  The structure and support make it so easy to open your own business.

Krista: Don’t hesitate!
